Hello GCS Community! We have just about made it--the end of the school year is here, in case you haven't noticed yet (you probably have :D ) It has been a fantastic school year in the music room, and your students have achieved so many incredible things--take a walk through the tabs at the top of this web page to see for yourself some of the things we have done together! Coming in to GCS every day and being able to work with these kids has been a joy that brings a smile to my face every day, and I don't take it for granted. Have a fantastic summer and stay musical! See you around, Ms. Meiman PS: the video below was taken at the request of Thursday 8th graders to share about how they are feeling today :)

Happy April Showers--
It seems as though there's been a lot of rain recently, but there is a spot of sunshine on our musical horizon--next week on April 16th the k-2 grades are going to be presenting the Spring Concert! At 6pm in the GCS Gym, please join us as we show our wonderful music skills and talents. Also this month, please keep an eye on this site as more videos and evidence of our learning this year goes up on each grade's tab. Check out some behind the scenes rehearsals from SoundWave, some developing keyboard skills in 5th grade, and the Soundtrack Composition and Tech project that the 8th grade recently completed! May the sun break out soon--springtime outdoor recess awaits! Ms. Meiman March starts the season of Spring, and in the music room it is a season of performances!
Just last week, this year's SoundWave show choir put on their annual performance, which included hits from Broadway, Moana, Rock and Roll, and the Greatest Showman, to name just a few. Their hard work all year in this after school extracurricular ensemble has been incredible and I am so proud of their perseverance and how they presented themselves to the community in this show. Congratulations, SoundWave! Our next performance will be the Spring Concert, presented by the k-2 students on April 16th at 6pm. They have been working hard and practicing diligently in the past month (sometimes even on the playground at recess) so I look forward to being able to present them and commend them for their hard work as well. Have a great Spring, Ms. Meiman It seems as though we just started February, and yet February break is just days away!
As we get closer to the k-2 Spring Concert, we have been adding songs to our repertoire. We are so excited to sing for you, and if you would like a sneak peak at what is in store during our concert, keep an eye on this site. Even closer than the Spring Concert is the 2nd Annual SoundWave performance on March 20! Don't miss it-- bring your students and your family for an awesome performance put on by the 5-8th graders in SoundWave who have been working since October to get ready for this show. Mark a reminder on your calendar and get excited! Happy February, everyone! -Ms. Meiman January has been a blast!
Amazing that we are already "thinking spring" in the music room, but as we roll towards February, there are two performance updates to keep in mind and mark in on your calendar. On March 20, SoundWave will present its annual show. The GCS Show Choir has been working hard after school since October, singing and dancing through their program. We can't wait to show off our work and our musical skills in our show, and would like to invite everyone to come and see. A special shout out to students approaching grade 5--come see what you can do by joining SoundWave in 5th grade! In April, the k-2 grades will present the Spring Concert--it may be a few months away, but it will be here sooner than you know! The performance will be on April 16th, and the Book Fair will be going on in the media center as well, so you can check out books AND hear some quality music on the same evening. Hope to see you in the audience soon! Ms. Meiman What a fabulous year we've been having here at GCS!
It's already just about the end of Trimester 1-- time has really flown this year!
